Nomination Guidelines
Nominations for the 2017 Business Achievement Awards must be received by May 19, 2017.
All nominees must be members in good standing of the North San Diego Business Chamber as of June 1, 2017.
Nominees are not limited to one category; however, each company or individual may receive only one award.
Up to three honorees will be selected per category by the Committee. Nominee categories are subdivided by business size; one honoree will be selected from each subdivision.
Self-nominations will be accepted and are encouraged.
The Selection Committee is composed of impartial members of the San Diego media, and reserves the right to transfer a nominee to a more appropriate category.
Lifetime Achievement Awards
Up to 3 Honorees
This award recognizes an individual who has repeatedly gone beyond the standard obligations in his or her industry and contributed significantly to the local business community. Due to the nature of this award, previous winners will not be considered.
Criteria
- Have been in the business community for 10 years or longer
- Member in good standing of the North San Diego Business Chamber
- An individual
Emerging Leaders of the Year
Up to 3 Honorees
This award recognizes young entrepreneurs, business professionals or executives of a local company/organization who exemplify business excellence, community spirit, innovation, and personal integrity, and has made an impact in their industry. The Emerging Leader of the Year serves as an ideal model for other emerging professionals and entrepreneurs.
Criteria
- Must be an entrepreneur, business professional or executive of a company/organization that has been in business for 3 years
- Must be 40 years of age or younger at the time of nomination
- Responsible for a significant role in their company's good standing, its vision and continued growth
- Member in good standing of the North San Diego Business Chamber
- An individual
Business Leaders of the Year
Up to 3 Honorees
This award honors business leaders that made the greatest positive impact on their organization through innovation, integrity, growth, and pushing their company to excellence in every aspect of business.
Criteria
- Must be an executive in a private or public company
- Member in good standing of the North San Diego Business Chamber
- An individual
Business of the Year
Up to 3 Honorees
Businesses nominated for this award embrace responsibility for the impact of their activities on the environment, consumers, employees, and the community by proactively encouraging growth and development, and volunteer their time making a difference in their community.
Criteria
- Member in good standing of the North San Diego Business Chamber
- A business
Think Local First Champion of the Year
Up to 3 Honorees
This award honors businesses or organizations that have shown a commitment to supporting local commerce, keeping spending in the region and encouraging their employees to engage in local spending. Their best practices include one or more of the following: promoting local spending; advocating for keeping dollars local; and supporting initiatives that keep local spending in the minds of employees. Nominees in this category have set themselves apart through promoting local initiatives through marketing, good business practices and a commitment to the community.

- Located in San Diego County
- Member in good standing of the North San Diego Business Chamber

Healthiest Business of the Year
Up to 3 Honorees
The Healthiest Business Awards are presented by the Chamber's Health Committee each year to recognize those businesses who promote wellness in their companies.
Criteria
- Located in San Diego County
- Member in good standing of the North San Diego Business Chamber
